We’ve tweaked, added to, and perfected these contracts over the course of working with 350+ elopement couples. We’ve encountered almost everything that could happen on an elopement day that you’d want contract protection for. For real, sooo may lesson learned. Each time a new idea came up, we took it to our contract lawyer to help us draft the right language.

A few clauses that have saved our butts!

  • Guests: This is a big one! Total guest count impacts so much of an elopement day; How you plan the timeline, permits, which locations you can visit…it can be a nightmare when a couple surprises you by mentioning their guest count has tripled. Yikes. Can’t stress this one enough.
  • Waiver and Release of Liability; Assumption of Risk: Mandatory language for any adventure elopement. We basically told our lawyer, “we want what skydiving instructors use.”
  • Trail Selection: Empowers you, and only you, as having the final say on which trail(s) you visit on the elopement day. No couples saying, “but I reallllly want to do this 14 mile hike with 5,000 ft elevation gain!” Yeah, no. 
  • Travel Fees: What’s included in the package price for your (the photographer) travel fees and what’s considered above and beyond. So important for many remote locations or special activities like heli flights, kayak rentals, Jeep rentals, etc.
